About the Photo

About 85 miles into the NYC Century on the Bronx section of the ride I met at a team of cyclists who were half my age on bikes that weighed half as much as mine. These guys could have easily dropped me at any time but did not. It was raining, we were all exhausted, and the 100 loop markings on the streets that weren’t washed away were getting hard to see as night began to fall. It was safety in numbers as a group of strangers worked together to ensure that everyone who came this far made it to the end. The second photo is of that group at the last rest stop with just 10 miles to go. I never knew their names but the Bronx Brewery American Pale Ale (see review below) I had on ice in my car was hoisted as a bug shout out to the unknown crew in the Bronx, without whom, I may not have finished the NYC Century.

About the Beer

Pours a bronze color with a small head. Strong malty aroma. Flavor is maltier, strong, a noticeable bitterness and hints of earth. Good body and feel. Overall, an earthy pale ale, that is stronger, and does come together nicely, especially after 100 miles on a bike drains your body of all its carbs!
